Job Description


We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating imaging equipment, and ensuring patient safety during nuclear medicine procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of nuclear medicine technology, excellent patient care skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Care:

    • Explain procedures to patients and address any concerns or questions they may have.

    • Prepare patients for imaging procedures, ensuring they are comfortable and informed.

  2. Radiopharmaceuticals Preparation and Administration:

    • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals following established protocols and safety guidelines.

    • Calculate and measure the appropriate dosage for each patient.

  3. Imaging Procedures:

    • Operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment to perform diagnostic procedures.

    • Capture images of specific body parts as requested by physicians.

    • Ensure the quality and accuracy of images for diagnosis.

  4. Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to radiation safety protocols and regulatory standards.

    • Monitor and minimize radiation exposure to patients, self, and other healthcare staff.

    • Maintain accurate records of radiopharmaceutical usage and patient procedures.

  5. Equipment Maintenance:

    • Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on nuclear medicine equipment.

    • Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel.

  6. Collaboration:

    • Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnosis and optimal patient care.

    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient cases and imaging results.

  7. Documentation:

    • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including imaging results, radiopharmaceutical usage, and procedural notes.

    • Ensure all documentation complies with legal and regulatory requirements.

  8. Professional Development:

    • Stay current with advancements in nuclear medicine technology and procedures.

    • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.


Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field.

  • Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine.

  • State licensure, if applicable.

  • Proven experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.

  • Strong knowledge of nuclear medicine procedures, radiopharmaceuticals, and imaging equipment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with PET/CT and SPECT/CT imaging.

  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

  • Basic life support (BLS) certification.
